I've been living in France for a couple weeks now and it has already imparted new vigor to my mind. While my lifestyle here is stunningly scenic and picturesque; travel is glamorous only in retrospect. When sailing away from the safe harbor of familiar comforts, you can get off balance, and sometimes out of your element. For me, this is especially relevant as I try everyday to communicate my self in a tongue i'm still learning. In a world where communication is key, try living in a city that doesn't know your native language! A different language is a different vision of life. Many multilinguals report different personalities, or different worldviews, when they speak their separate tongues. It's an exciting notion, the idea that one's very self can be broadened by the mastery of two or more languages. With that, I'm currently experimenting with a whole new persona and it's pretty amusing. Everyday is a new challenge, but i've found that's exactly what gives me the thrills.
Speaking of thrilling, I'm headed to Paris right now for the weekend!
Oh, and here I am preparing my bongo skills for my destined adventure to Morocco, Africa.
